Elephanta Caves
This time talking about, Elephanta Caves!!
There are not many tourist destinations in Mumbai.
So always taken up the Island as a Mumbai-tourist spot.
This time I went there by myself. (Not Tour)
I’m gonna summarizing How to way of doing, and How much does it takes, and more…
Let’s check it out!!
Be careful for rip-offs!lol
How to go to the
Elephanta Caves
This time I went by myself without a tour!
▼ Here is how to get to Elephanta Island!

It was not difficult to be confused, so if you are going to Mumbai, let’s go to there yourself!
Let’s start explanation with a photo from here!
How to go① Buy a boat ticket
From the Gateway of India we’ve started off to the Elephanta Island.
There is a ticket counter for boat near the entrance to Gateway of India, where you can buy a tickets.
We bought a ticket at this “SHREEKRISHNA MOTOR”↓

Boat ticket fee is Adult: 200Rs Child: 125Rs

※This is the price for September 2018.
If you’ll get it, Do not lose it until you’ll return here.
Because it’s a round trip ticket.
How to go② Get on the boat

The boat is staying near the harbor, so walk to there.
If you buy a ticket, go through the Gateway of India and go to the port.
There is staff has with the same blue tickets▼, so if you give the ticket and get on the boat.

If you want to go 2nd floor, you’ll pay extra(20Rs) the front of the stair on the boat.
Say goodbye to the Gateway of India when you board the ship!
By the way, I stayed at The Taj Mahal Hotel right next to the Gate. Click here for The details★

Boat boarding time
It takes a long time, about 40-50mins.
If you get easy to seasick, you should take medicine beforehand.
Gas smells so bad around the engine and behind the one.
Also bad splashes ahead of the ship and the 2nd floor is too hot…
I think the best seat in the middle of the boat.

Arrival in Elephanta Island

When you get to the island, get off the boat and explore the island!
From here I will introduce the island!
Take mini train!
When we arrived at Elephanta Island, we took a mini train to the center of the island.
Mini train fee is 10Rs/per.
Because of a little bit far from the harbor to the central area!
It takes about 5-10min on foot.
Really hot outside and get tired than usual, so make it better.
Island Restroom
Let’s climb the long long looooong staircase!!
But beforehand, stop by the common restroom.

There is the right side of the central area and behind the restaurant.
It takes a few tips(below Rs.1), but not so dirty and safe!!
Souvenir shops are rip-off!

There are many souvenir shops but that’s too high-price!!
I got a small Elephant figurine, the first price was 2000Rs!!
and then, I bought 1500Rs..but!!
I found out the same one in the city shop, how…
Only 250Rs!!!!lol
Even at the airport-shop about Rs.1000 !!
I can’t recommend that shop.
Elephanta caves
Entry fee: 600Rs
The entrance to the Elephanta Caves is at the top of the stairs. There you pay the money and receive the receipt.
★Elephanta caves Entry fee
Foreigners(Including children): 600Rs
※September 2018
Little bit high price, isn’t it??
This is the Foreigners admission fee…
Indians’ admission fee is…
It’s also rip-off !?

Indian’s admission fee is only Rs.40/per!!?
What is the difference!?!?
I hate it here at this moment. I couldn’t believe it…
Elephanta caves
There are some big remains.
If you like watching remains could be enjoying it here.
and I’m not so interested in it, I didn’t feel a big impression…

There is a lot of wild monkeys!! so cute!

I think better that I saw a lot of wild monkeys!!
They are used to people, so they are safe if we don’t hands out or having food. (a person having food was stolen by a monkey)

Monkey coming so close! cute!
The monkey looks at us, but it was okay if we didn’t show him anything to give!
Be careful to tour guides after getting off a boat.

I was caught up to a local tour guide as soon as get off a boat.
I told him “I don’t need it” over 10 times, then he told me ” It’s okay just 20Rs/per”.
But it’s uncertain that it can be enough. It was quite tough but finally gave him up.
Surely he is innocent and his English is clear, so I think he’ll do perfectly. But I did it better. Because as you can see, there was an unusual fee for foreigners!!
I bet It’ll not finish only Rs.20 !!
Impressions
That’s it for Elephanta Island!
I think, It doesn’t have to go but it able to killing time.
It takes Rs.800 only boat ticket and admission fee and takes about 3hours.
If you don’t have another plan, better to go there.
But I think you don’t have to go take the trouble to do.
I strongly recommend the Sulm tour there !!
It takes more money BUT It can get more things.
